All our 2nd-5th grade students took a field trip to the LIC-A Gallery at Plaxall to create pieces of “peaceful” art work and had a conversation about peace. These pieces will be sewn together into a peace flag. The Flag will then hang in the school or the new Library. Please help us celebrate this beautiful collaboration. This is a free event.

NYC Junior Ambassadors to the United Nations: Congratulation to PS/IS 78Q’s 7th grade class for being chosen (for the 2nd YEAR!) to be a part of NYC Junior Ambassadors to the United Nations. Only 20 schools are selected per year. This year’s activities include: a personal tour of UN, a classroom visit by a UN diplomat, a big project that makes an impact on the world, and an exhibition and year-end ceremony where work is presented-attended by local and international leaders. Last year our students took action on climate change: painted a mural, designed and distributed educational fliers, started a social media campaign, engineered a 3D model of a futuristic “green” Long Island City, NY, prototyped a climate change kit, and hosted a conversation with Australian ambassador!
